Tara and Darcey met in Venice where they both worked as designers for Knock Knock . They recently branched out and started their own stationery line called paperwink. It is cheerful, fun and clever just like the two of them. We received their custom book of personal stationery a few months ago and I am thrilled to have these little paperwinks at the store.

how cute is this packaging?

I love the labels !

This is the type of mail that makes even the mailman happy!

Nantaka Joy
I almost missed her and the mixed co. booth at the show, but was so glad when I realized…what would i have done? The patterns of Joy’s collection of stationery are always so unique and I am a huge fan of the metallic on kraft series.

Enid Wilson
Enid is such a brilliant artist. I always love seeing her newest collections. Both of my sisters and I share an equal appreciate her work . So beautiful.

Two Trick Pony
I am infatuated with them. This line is screaming to the world that it is excited to be in existence. I love how happy it is. Feel the sunshine right here…

So this wraps it up for the 2008 new york stationery show. There are so many other lines I would love to feature here, but this post would be eternal.

Little Oranges of California
If I could have posted as many pictures as I wanted from L.O. I would have taken up about 3 pages of this blog. I love the simple modern style of this line and the little details you find on each piece. I will definitely be posting more on these very soon.

By the way …the backs are just as beautiful as the fronts!
Fugu Fugu Press
Fresh, fun, letterpressed and completely awesome! Also totally cute “about” section on their website. I can’t wait till these arrive…..

Paper + Cup
I love paper + cup and have been thinking about their custom album now for exactly 1 year. Ridiculous that it took so long but I am SO excited to finally have “Era” on it’s way into urbanic !!

Pear & Marmalade
I discovered this line when I was shopping the latest from The Great Lakes. It is a total gem of a card line for the store!

Night Owl Paper Goods
I am still and will always be a huge fan. They are the only people on the planet that have mastered the art of being “modern yet folky” and I can’t get enough of their sustainably harvested wood collection.

* part 1 of the 2008 stationery show post *
The stationery show was amazing this year … I just got back and am in total design stimulation overload. Here are a few of my favorites that you will be finding in urbanic very soon..
enormous champion
We discovered this awesome letterpress line out of Brooklyn and I can’t stop thinking about how refreshing and unusual it is… modernish-vintage, nature inspired and downtown hip. I love the name. (It is tied with orange beautiful for best name ever)

Alee and Press
I was so happy to meet the girls at Alee and Press finally! I was smitten by the card they sent me and their designs were all that I had anticipated. The wedding collection was unbelievable and will be arriving soon at urbanic as well as lots of subtle & stylish stationery sets.

Wiley Valentine
I heart wiley valentine forever!! I wish I had some close ups of their new letterpressed line, but I will (very soon) and will be sure to post them. Emily and Rachelle seriously amaze me on a daily basis. They are like a super deluxe design factory constantly busting out the most forward and sophisticated stationery and invitations.

Pikku
Such a tasteful line ! The stationery is letterpressed and hand stiched onto thick cottoney paper. I am so into these “happy days” calendars with designs screen printed onto birch plywood.

Pink Loves Brown
It was so fun for me to meet Nicole from Pink loves brown. She has a great blog called making it lovely and this super cute line of cards, buttons magnets and other patterned delightful treasures. Her packaging was adorable and I love that you can reference her blog to see everything in the works!

It is always so neat when our custom orders of wedding invitations arrive at the store!

This order was particularly noteworthy, as it was so stylish, original and full of character. ( I would say the same about the the couple by the way! )

Hello Lucky never ceases to amaze me !

As if I am not already excited enough to go to the national stationery show in New York, I have been bombarded with GREAT mail for it . Every day I get a bunch of beautiful envelopes bursting with creativity from different designers inviting us to visit their booths at the show.
These are no run of the mill postcards….

This one below arrived from Wiley Valentine and included an ornate letterpressed cover card, the invitation and a little calling card booth number reminder, all wrapped up in brown and white parcel twine.

The one i am most curious and equally impressed with is this new line called alee. The design was so unexpected and peculiar and I loved the hand stiched detail on the side.
I can’t wait to check out the rest of this line.

Towards the end of May I will have a full review of the NSS ( national stationery show )
So much new to be discovered ! ……….

Lately I have become aware of how someone’s words can really make your day or in some cases really put a damper on it. Kind words feel good and I am trying making a conscious effort to verbalize it when i am thinking good thoughts of someone instead of just thinking them. Here are some design inspirations that i have come across…

This welcome mat from john pour home = warmth and hospitality.
We sell these letterpressed cards from Seraph at Urbanic…. simple, pleasant and to the point.

I have been wanting to order this print from reform school for our new place ever since I found it. It’s such a good daily reminder of a great companionship.
I found this amazing shallow bowl on a super cute etsy shop called paloma’s nest.
Today is a perfectly good day to bless someone.

Joshua and I flew my parents in from the east coast to go to the Venice garden tour (for an early mothers/fathers day gift). This is not something that would normally make it onto my to do list, but I have to say that I am really glad I went. The landscaping at many of the homes was spectacular, and the use of outdoor space was so refreshing.

Highlights for me were the modern architecture and the outdoor living rooms. Loungey outside sofas around the most unique of fire pits and trees adorned with hanging glass lights and chandeliers.

It’s days like these that I remember how much i love Venice.

Right now, Joshua is building me my new desk…

and I am so excited to finally be organized in our new place! Recently I have been so inspired by pictures of other peoples “desk stories” ( in a few blog posts I have read ) so i decided that this is totally going to be a before & after post of what I will do to this adorable blank slate. This is officially the before.
As far as getting myself organized, I just grabbed these things from the store so I could start to file my heart out and keep my days organized.

above: Thomas Paul file folders and daily journals sets. Russel and Hazel signature binder and people and places rolodex
