post No.102 A Holiday Hey

I feel like I haven’t written on Parcel Post in a while. With the craziness of the stores in the holiday season, and so many family members in town the days feel like minutes and the whole month has flown by. Hope you are having a good holiday time so far. I have been loving the hustle and bustle of the season, and all of the festive design inspired packaging to go with it. Below are some pictures i snapped the other day around the store.

I must say, we have been very busy wrapping gifts around here! There are definitely times when we try to out-do each other with creative wrap design!

My sister Anastasia has been in town – charming the store with her stylish merchandising skills and customers with her “gift choosing flair”.

I have so many favorite Christmas cards in the store this year that I want to highlight, but today I can’t keep my eyes off of these Cartolina cards. They are so vintage and curiously eclectic. The bright punchy colors give them the perfect unexpected kick for a holiday greeting.

Hooray! It is post No.100 time. I knew I needed to do something really special for this one, so this morning i am introducing you to The Conversation Tin!

The concept came from a road trip my sister took with her boyfriend across the country. They barely knew each other at that time, so before they left, they made a big coffee tin and asked their friends and random people to drop secret questions and conversation topics into it. During the course of their trip they would take turns picking out of the tin and discussing.

I felt this was a genius idea, and am so excited to announce that “The Conversation Tin” will be incorporated into a new regular feature here on Parcel Post. I have been interviewing folks in the design world who I find fascinating (and think you will too). They are picking questions out of the tin and will answer them on their post here. Stay tuned for all of this coming in the new year. In the meantime submit your conversation questions and topics by clicking the card below.

Here are a few samples submissions: • “what was your first music purchase?” •coffee preferences?” • “unique childhood event” • Feel free to drop in whatever you like and these will be added to the master tin!

NOW FOR THE BEST NEWS !!!!….

As of today, you can buy your own Conversation Tin! My sister just launched Snow Day (her etsy store). This is a totally great gift for anyone and definitely a fun coffee table accessory for hosting during the holiday season.

post No.97 The Holiday Party

The urbanic holiday party was so much fun this year!

The turnout was great and everyone definitely brought some holiday cheer.

The surprise package giveaways were a hit. Tess had the idea to put a reindeer name on each bag and let people pick there chances from a bowl. It was awesome to hear someone shouting with joy from all the way in the back yard!

The fancy treats were delicious. My friend Erin who is a gourmet baketress, made truffels, biscotti, and chocolate dipped pretzel rods topped with either chocolate chips, candy cane or nuts. (soooo good) and cookies! We also had a “candy bar” so people could scoop up their favorites and make a take- home bag of goodies

My definite favorite part of the night was – The Project Social- table. The project this time was to design a gift tag . The table was packed with people all night long. It always makes me so happy when people get so into it. I loved the tags Laure designed for her home-made gifts this year ( above )

There was so many great tags- it was like an explosion of creativity out there. Anyway, the whole night was what I would consider a perfect evening. I even found a Christmas tree star for my brown and white tree!

I got an amazing “luxury plush throw” from Restoration Hardware recently and It has turned me into a fanatic for grey. I put this post up on Brooklyn Bride a few days ago, but figured i would put it here also since I am still really into it.

Lately I have been loving the color combo grey and white. It’s cool but warm, stylish and soft spoken.
