Remembering this day 10 years ago and thinking of all of the people who’s lives were effected. Hugging my little ones just a little bit tighter today with hopes for peace.

I’m sure we’re all on the same page of feeling heartbroken every time we see photos and footage of the disaster in Japan. A few of my friends set up a Day of Silence for this Friday the 18th. The idea of some silence on the internet seems right considering the amount pain and suffering going on. If you’re a blogger and feel inclined, please join with us on this day of silence. (email Lydia to get involved). They also put together an organized way to donate through a non profit called Shelter Box. To any of you who want to give, this is a really easy way to help out. Hey all, this week has been a whirlwind. To start off with some good news, Hitched was absolutely incredible. It was SO FUN! There were mind-blowing amounts of talent flying around that venue and it by far exceeded my expectations of amazingness.
Also some bad news … my laptop is gone. Ugh. it went missing at the Ace Hotel during our stay. We’re hoping it somehow turns up, but haven’t heard anything positive yet, so I’ve been pretty handicapped this week as far as posting. I’m working on getting back on my feet and dying to share pictures with you in detail!
till then,

p.s in the meantime my friend Laure just posted some Hitched stuff up on Apartment Therapy. (she snapped the pic above).
I received the nicest thank you note in the mail from a friend this week. She took the time to really write out her thoughts and appreciation for the people that Joshua and I are in her life. It meant so much to read her sweet words in the middle of a crazy business day and definitely added a burst of sunshine to the gloomy pile of bills it was nestled between. It got me thinking that I want to take more time to express feelings to the people in my life.

On June 20th, Joshua and I celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary. I never posted anything about it because it seemed to sneak up so fast this year, it sort of just came and went in the blink of an eye. I’ve been feeling bad about it though. I want every anniversary we share to be a milestone in our lives. It’s tough these days to juggle so much on our plates. Together we’re in the process of preparing for the new baby while balancing the daily workload of the shop and trying to be the best parents we can be for our 3 yr old. hmmm. in reflecting on what I just wrote, I guess the keyword is “together”. (I’m thankful for it).

I can’t believe I forgot to post my Father’s Day favorites from around the shop this year! Well, there’s always next year, but for now here are a few great ones we had in from Hammerpress. Store stuff aside I just wanted to say that I know how lucky I am to have the kind of father that I do. He is a huge creative inspiration in my life and someone I have always looked up to on many – many different levels. On the same note my husband could not be a more loving, caring and fun, father to our son. I realize I’m very blessed to have them in my life and hope to honor both of them with this post.
Here’s wishing my father, my husband and all the wonderful dads out there, a very happy Father’s Day today.

I have a lump in my throat. Today, my dear friend Ali, is moving back to Scotland and we won’t be seeing each other again for a long while. Finding a true friendship in this world is so rare and so precious. I’m really thankful for all the fun we got to have while she lived right down the street.

I am really going to miss her.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! The 2 J’s and I enjoyed some quality time with my family on the east coast. It was magical in many ways and I feel blessed to be so close with my sisters and parents. – this is something I don’t take for granted. The below picture is of my father, pulling my son and my nephew in the snow. I am really excited for the journey of this new year and my guess is that many of you feel the same. Currently, I am working on brewing up some great blog posts for the week and ordering some exciting new merchandise for Urbanic- hooray!! You will be posted on all of this of course, but until then have a great day back to work.

It has been a very difficult last 2 weeks. I am about to enter into my 3rd week of this computer meltdown situation and nothing seems to be improving. To recap: my Mac is less than a year old and was diagnosed with “minor software issues”. After 3 different tech guys spent 37 hours of work, my computer “took a turn for the worse” and is now just a black screen with a circle line through it communicating “no”. (I found it kind of comical that my laptop is just saying no) I depend on that little machine for SO much in my everyday life. All of my work files, communication, proofing, templates, and even this blog. Joshua has been very sympathetic to my frustrations and a very good share-er of his computer, but the thing that made my week brighter and helped me stay encouraged were these…
He made me a series of 7 flashcards in a little brown envelope as a reminder of some of the positive ways that he sees me. On the backs of each are definitions of why and an area where he sited examples of specific events.
These have been so uplifting to me in such a down-and-out couple weeks, and a daily resource for cheering up. Also on a positive note, since I have been without a computer I have cleaned out my desk, edited my closet, re-arranged the back room at the store, and re-vamped my file cabinets.
If you have emailed me in the last few weeks and I still have not gotten back to you – thanks for understanding and know that I will asap.

Like 5 months ago Joshua and I took Javin to the long beach aquarium. He was way too young to appreciate it at that time but we were very eager parents. On the way out we decided that we would each get a souvenir from the gift shop. Javin got a stuffed animal whom we named mirf, Joshua got some candy and i found a “diamond” seahorse necklace for $6.99. I have always thought seahorses were kind of neat. Even more than I like the actual creatures, I love the re-creation of them (designed well) on other things. I really think it is something about that swirly tail. Anyway, I always wanted to wear this necklace, but every time I tried it on it lacked something so it was never a go. Recently, I re-invented it, by pairing it up with another necklace and must say, I was very proud of my combo. These days seahorses are popping up everywhere.
I have been happily stocking the store with them from lines like aquiesse, the gift bag factory and hello lucky
but there is a whole other world (and sea) full of these nautical beauties…
