post No.321 wonderful colorful things

I woke up this morning feeling inspired by cheerful colorful things.  Today is jam packed full of projects and appointments all day at the shop, so it’s nice to take a minute of downtime to say what’s up to you guys..  Hope your days are good ones.  What are your schedules like today?

post No.320 Cupcake Saturdays are back!!

For any of you who aren’t familiar, last year we started Cupcake Saturdays for a limited time at Urbanic.  (see the blog post about it here)  Each Saturday, we would have freshly baked cupcakes delivered and for sale at the shop variety of flavors.  Abbott Kinney doesn’t have a bakery yet, so this was our way of bringing these tasty cakes to the block.  Our customers loved it and requested that we bring it back. That being said, we are very excited to announce that we are starting it up again beginning this Saturday April 3rd and this time in a partnership with Frosted Cupcakery!!  If you haven’t tried these yet, oh my goodness, they are AHH-MAZING!  I guarantee once you do, you will be thinking about them all week!

and now for the special news …

For our grand re-launch of Cupcake Saturdays on April 3rd, we will be giving away free cupcakes all day (or at least while they last) compliments of Frosted! Just right click on these tickets below and print one out for you and a friend –  or go paperless and redeem by showing it to us on your hand held.

Cupcakes Saturdays will continue every Saturday at Urbanic from about 11:00 am to approx. 4:00 pm.  We will be sure to  keep you posted each week on flavors, specials etc.

See you there!

post No.318 bamboo mobiles

We recently received these adorable bamboo mobiles at Urbanic for the wee ones!  When we had our son 3 years ago I searched far and wide for a mobile we could all enjoy (and preferably not annoy us).  If only I had known about these then! In this shipment we also received an assortment of darling prints on wood which I will be blogging about soon.

post No.317 Twig by Alee

Sometimes I forget how much I like something that I’ve had for a while.  Yesterday I was working with a bride in our wedding lounge who was oohing and ahhing over this set of invitations by Alee.  It’s hard to tell in the photographs, but there is a gorgeous blind deboss of a wood grain pattern behind the text. All the admiration I had for this set when I first received it came rushing back.  Definitely one of my all time favorites!

post No.315 Friday (not) at the shop

Some of you may have noticed my posting has been very light this week.  I have been focused on taking care of my little guy who has been sick all week.  That being said my “design shots” are from home (his artwork on the fridge!)  I’ll be back next week with lots of new finds and Urbanic updates.  Until then, have a great weekend!

post No.312 Friday at the shop

Hoping you all had a great week.  My younger sister was in town helping us count inventory – so my week was full of some pretty good times.  Today, I’m feeling a little blue that she had to go, but alas, it’s ‘Friday at the Shop’ time and the weekend is almost here, so I am keeping my chin up!

here are my picks this week ….

{oh! and in case you are wondering, the adorable rolls are Japanese masking tapes.}

post No.307 Friday at the Shop

This morning I was admiring some of the golden things around the shop.

It has been a busy week around here with lots of new shipments and getting geared up for inventory. This Monday 3/8  the store will be closed and we’ll be exercising our counting skills until the sun goes down.

until then,

happy weekend!

post No.304 Magical Menagerie

We’ve had these little Magical Menagerie kits in at the shop for a while, and I always thought they were pretty cool.  When I was in NY at the Chronicle booth  I saw that they had a few of them put-together outside the box and then I realized they were super amazingly cool!  Basically the kit is a keepsake box full of pop out animal shapes that fit together by sliding the pieces into slots.  They also come with envelopes so they can double as a fun piece of mail. The designer behind this is Junzo Terada an incredible children’s illustrator out of Japan.
