post No.570 greenroom

One of the coolest parts of living in L.A. is hands down the creative types of people you get to meet everyday. Since I opened the shop I’ve been lucky enough to get to know the brilliant folks behind Greenroom. We all know them. They’re that cool line of recycled stationery in the office section of Target. People think that because I have a stationery store I have no reason to buy another piece of this stuff. Total myth. I actually have lots of it and get excited every time Greenroom puts out a new collection.  That being said here are a few shots of their new release.

post No.569 the little corner

Many people don’t know that there is a little corner in the shop dedicated to all things adorable for the smallest people in our lives. We keep it stocked with things like baby memory books, modern frames, hand and footprint molds, natural sunscreens, thank you cards, coloring books, bib and burp sets, stroller blankets, touch and feel books and modern mobiles.  You can count on finding a perfect little gift that is cute, but not “too cute” if you know what I mean.  It’s tough in the world of baby product to find such things but we’ve succeeded and are quite proud!  Below are just a few favorite things from the little corner…

post No.567 industrial rainbow

How is it Friday already?  Below is some of my favorite eye candy from around the web this week. I’m loving the juxtaposition of the masculine wood grain stripes  and industrial green lockers combined with the bright rainbow spectrum of colors.

happy weekend all!

post No.566 bunny hop

It’s that time of year again for pastel colored eggs, bowls full of jellybeans, and the prettiest of sun dresses.  Although Easter isn’t technically about all of these things, it’s fun to indulge in the sweetness of these wonderful spring things.  Below are some of my fave bunnies hopping around the card wall of the shop right now.  We’ll be closed this Sunday to celebrate the true meaning of Easter and wish you all a day full of sunshine, reflection and lots of candy peeps!

post No.565 home-working

I’ve been working from home quite a bit lately. I really miss being in the store as much as I used to be, but during this special time while the boys are so little, it’s nice to interact with them throughout the day.  I admit, it doesn’t always work out the best for accomplishing the things I need to, but I’m still in a learning process on how to juggle things effectively.  We’ve also started to work on our home!  Since we moved in last summer, we never really did much to make this place feel like our own. Lately we’ve begun to hang pictures, plot out furniture, and even had a family day painting the kids room. My 4yr old has without a doubt found his new favorite past time!

post No.564 eco green by paddywax

I’m super loving this eco green candle collection from Paddywax that we just put out on our shelves at Urbanic. First off, all of the vessels are made from recycled wine bottles. How cool is that? Secondly the scents are refreshingly natural …  mandarin lavender, rosemary citrus, and thyme olive leaf to name just a few.

post No.563 black & white and patterned all over

Happy Monday! Did you get our newsletter on Friday? If not you can get yourself on our mailing list here.  Below are some cute things that were hanging around on my desktop I had to share. How cute is this flag idea with washi tapes and straws?  I kinda want to put a version of these in our little herb garden we planted over the weekend.  Speaking of straws, good news – (!!!) we have TONS of striped straws coming in later this week. We’re talking like 10 new colors. I’ll keep you posted.  Right about now, I’m feeling pretty fond of this ‘deep breath’ print I found on Etsy. I need to abide by this today. Mondays hit me like a storm!

post No.559 Nell’s Compass

New to Urbanic is the Nell’s Compass candle collection by Lilly McDowell Walton who is a Venice local!  The collection is a collaborative project of Lilly and her mom who established the line in honor of their mother/grandmother and inspired by family travels. I love carrying the work of local designers at Urbanic, but first and foremost of importance is finding lines that are the highest in quality and truly special. This collection encompasses it all. The candles are made of soy with lead free wicks, natural fragrance and charitable. Each candle sold gives a portion of the profits to Heifer International.  Besides all listed above, the candles are beautifully classic with sophisticated mysterious scents. Truly a perfect addition to the shop!
