post No.791 This Friday is FIRST FRIDAY!

Hey L.A peeps…
This Friday is ‘First Friday’ on Abbot Kinney. What does that mean you ask?  It’s the monthly block party we have here on our street, where shops stay open late, swarms of food trucks arrive and people flock to Venice to get social. This Friday (March 1st) is a special occasion because we’ll have Sweet Lucies ice cream truck parked right in front of the shop serving up *the BEST* in organic ice cream. (Remember when we had them at our Summer Social a few years ago?)  I am a huge ice cream enthusiast so you can mark my words that this is the good stuff. Customers of Urbanic that night will get a sweet little ice cream discount!

Hope to see you there,

post No.782 Holiday Social with Snow & Graham

Um. How could I almost forget to post pics from the holiday party?!  The winter social this year was full of mingling, tasting and making. Ebony from Snow & Graham flew in from Chicago bringing lots of frills and pretty paper. She hosted a holiday garland workshop and also taught folks to make another d.i.y project that looked way more advanced. (I hung out by the marshmallows for that one!)   Stacia and Phil from Frosted brought a gorgeous spread of tasty baked treats. I’m pretty sure that eating those high tops (5th picture down) would be equivalent to taking a bite of Heaven if you could.  A special thanks to Kimber from The Two Photography, for capturing some of the party with these pictures below.  To all of you who came out, thanks for coming it was wonderful to see you!  To all of you reading this, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here’s to an adventurous 2013.

post No.773 Rifle Paper Party at Urbanic

It was such an absolute pleasure to have Anna Bond from Rifle Paper Co. come out for a visit to the shop a few weeks ago!  It started out with a fun little chat we had while in NYC together a few months ago and ended up becoming this …

Since the party landed in the midst of the fall season, we had a table spread of seasonal tarts and warm apple cider.

We showcased the latest Rifle collection for holiday & featured an exclusive print of Los Angeles she did for Urbanic!

The little shopping bag in the back of the convertible has our store name on it. (I’m sure it goes without saying how much I adore this little detail!). We still have some prints available in the shop for purchase so come in or call us to get yours. We’ll also have a mini pop up shop online for you to purchase one within the next few weeks if you’d like.

Such a good time was had by all at this charming little event.  Thanks to all of you who came out, and a very special thanks to Joanne Pio for snapping all of these gorgeous photos of the event.

Well it was a HUGE success and I couldn’t be more excited to let you know that he is coming again!  This year he is coming on  November 8th from 11am – 8 pm. post No.739 The Cream Event

For all of your East Coasters out there, tomorrow night is The Cream event in NYC.  We were booked to set up Urbanic there, but then had to cancel when we realized that little J started kindergarten that same day here in Los Angeles. (eeeeek! how does time fly by so fast?) Anyway, we’re bummed to miss it, but if you’re in the New York area you should totally go. It’s always a good time, and with this line-up it is sure to be a stellar event. Below are some photos of the Urbanic pop-up shop at the last event this past March in Culver City. Those were some good neon times all around!  haha!  Get your NYC tickets right here.
