post No.595 Summer Social Video

P.S I forgot to attach before the weekend, but here’s the Summer Social Video!  It was made by my husband, Joshua Woollen and our friend Keith Paugh.  The two of them just started up a new creative video company together called Design Life Cinema.  (more on that soon!)  Hope you had a wonderful 4th.

post No.594 The Summer Social

I’m finally posting the pictures from the Summer Social! A ton has happened since then so I admit, it took me a little longer than expected. This was truly one of our best Urbanic parties ever.

\

There was such a good social vibe that night, and we had a blast hanging out with all 200+ of you who showed up. Thanks for coming out!  The whole idea formed when chatting with Smock about throwing an event together. Of course making paper pinwheels out of their double sided wraps was a perfect project for this party, but they got even more involved than that and flew in from New York to host this night together with us.  (thanks friends at Smock for helping make this happen!)

As I’m sure you already know, we had an incredibly talented team. The pictures below are by the awesome husband and wife team The Why We love. Danielle and Kevin have an amazing eye, and fully captured the details of the night. (plus they were super fun to hang out with!). The Bash Please girls decked out the place with these gorgeous flower arrangements and strung their handmade fringed fabric bunting to swoop across the back yard. So cute. I wanted to leave them up forever! Sweet Lucies pulled up their vintage Italian ice cream cart and scooped out their amazing organic ice cream. It’s hands down the finest in L.A and many new addicts were formed that night! The lovely Mrs. Lilien hand-squeezed hundreds of lemons to whip up the tastiest cocktail for her lemonade stand. I witnessed Kelly do this and was impressed beyond measure at her zest for making this drink into a masterpiece. Our pals at 100 LayerCake helped glue it all together the day-of (literally, they were using glue dots!) and covered the event in their perfect signature way. Finally Tallu-lah donated a bulk load of adorable cotton Los Angeles totes to give out that night as a party favor. Total extra surprise detail that guests were so happy to receive.

If you weren’t able to make it, I’ll be posting the video next week, so hang tight for that.

in the meantime, happy 4th of July weekend friends!

post No.533 status update

Hey all, this week has been a whirlwind. To start off with some good news, Hitched was absolutely incredible. It was SO FUN!  There were mind-blowing amounts of talent flying around that venue and it by far exceeded my expectations of amazingness.

Also some bad news … my laptop is gone. Ugh.  it went missing at the Ace Hotel during our stay. We’re hoping it somehow turns up, but haven’t heard anything positive yet, so I’ve been pretty handicapped this week as far as posting. I’m working on getting back on my feet and dying to share pictures with you in detail!

till then,

p.s in the meantime my friend Laure just posted some Hitched stuff up on Apartment Therapy. (she snapped the pic above).

post No.525 Hitched Palm Springs!

As many of you already know I’m beyond excited about our next Hitched event taking place in Palm Springs in 2 weeks.  (I spoke a few months ago about our first event here and here). This time we’re headed to the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and will be hosting a groom’s lounge as well for the dapper gents. (more of this will be revealed on Monday)  I wanted to share the project board with you and the amazing lineup of vendors we snagged this time around. If you head over to our hitched blog, you can read a little Q+A with each of our snagees.  A few special features this time will be a water show by the Aqualillies, haircuts for the dudes by Rudy’s barber shop and an amazing honeymoon giveaway, aside from all the other RADNESS you can expect.  Get your tickets here,  (we sold out last time) Or if you want to chance it there are a handful of ticket giveaways happening which I’ll keep you posted through twitter and facebook.  Stay tuned …

post No.513 The Urbanic 2010 Holiday Event

To all of you who came out to our Holiday Event this year, thanks so much for making it sensational!  For those of you who couldn’t make it, here’s a recap of the night shot by the amazing Bonnie Tsang. We decorated the outside with paper chains and mini garlands and had our friends at Bash,Please add their magic touch in making things beautiful.  Our absolute fave Frosted Cupcakery delivered a fresh batch of eggnog, gingerbread, and chocolate peppermint mini cupcakes as well as there ever famous “high tops”. Ebony Snow Chafey from Snow and Graham made a special trip in from Chicago and supplied all of our guests with an abundance of adorable strips cut from S&G wrapping papers and hosted a paper chain workshop.  For those lucky enough to hang out with her at the table inside, she proved her paper expertise teaching folks how to make Swedish star paper ornaments. The night was completely enchanted and just cold enough to make sipping the Mariebelle hot chocolate a necessity as much as a luxury!

P.S. Ebony’s recap here

post No.502 H.I.T.C.H.E.D

I am probably the last person on the planet to post a recap of Hitched which is completely ridiculous, since Urbanic was a host of the event, but I tell you, I have 2 very good reasons why.  The first being that I just birthed myself a new little sidekick who likes ALOT of attention. The second reason, quite honestly, is that it has felt like an overwhelming feat. The event was literally SO amazing that I didn’t know how I could accurately sum it up with a few photos and some text in the confines of a little blog post. Lucky for me, I know a lot of talented people who did an amazing job with this summary, so I have gathered up some clips and links to share with you. The night started off with sights, sounds and tastes of pure sophisticated creativity and ended with a celebratory dance party of raining confetti. If you missed it, not to worry, the next one is coming soon!

post No.486 Creative Inc. Party recap

As many of you may already know, we hosted the Creative, Inc. book signing party in L.A last month.  I was beyond excited to get the photos in from the AMAZING Charley Star so I could show those of you who couldn’t make it some highlights of the evening.  Meg and Joy astound me.  Not only because of the sheer and obvious talent that they both so creatively possess, but also by their ability to sit there and sign like 200 books while socializing, and still looking pretty and composed throughout a whole evening.  (The book is an absolute hit by the way.  If you don’t already have one, I would highly suggest getting one.)  Another feature of the evening was BakeLab! This was my first experience tasting these treats; not only are ridiculously cute, but also very very tasty.  If you’re wondering where all of the cute garlands came from that adorned our back yard, that would be Confetti System.  We were SO lucky to have these beauties add such splendor to our party!  Thanks to all of you who came out that night to join us …. and a special thanks to my dear friend Em for helping me get this party set up!    p.s Joy posted some additional photos right here.
