post No.749 Wednesday!

Being that today is Wednesday, I thought it would be the most fitting day of the week to showcase our new collection of wedding invitations offered in our bridal lounge. That being said, I’m happy to present to you “Wednesday“! The album is complete with 16 different customizable suites and we are loving their quirky-stylish-cool aesthetic. There is so much character in each set offered that there is even a little personality description that accompanies each suite.  Below are just a few…

First up (above) we have Harvey! There are two things you need to know about Harvey. One, she keeps to herself. Two, when she does speak up, it’s through a megaphone.

Above meet “Clove“. She has a pop-culture references and clever jokes that stretch as wide as the desert she was raised in. Want to hear a joke about a pencil? Nevermind. It’s irrelevant.

And finally we have “Elliot“.  She achieves in everything she tries, except for cooking. By law, she is no longer allowed to cook.

post No.730 Coral & Mint

Remember when I used to be a regular guest blogger over on Brooklyn Bride? Well, when I had Ian, I had to take that off my plate for a while. Since my friend Vané {the founder} was going on vacation for a few weeks she asked me to send a guest post over and I happily accepted for old time’s sake. The mint + coral color story of this new invitation set we’re offering at Urbanic, led me on a path of finding things all around the shop (and beyond) to compliment this set for a fresh and fancy kind of wedding day. You can find the post right here {with much better picture width}!

post No.604 Papermade

It’s always fun to discover creative talent within our customers at Urbanic.  I recently met Elaine Chou at the shop who introduced me to her adorable wedding and event invitation collection – PaperMade. If the line isn’t cute enough already, how great are here styling skills?! She has her paper suites divided up by category names.  I’ve included three of my faves below.

post No.599 Lilly and Charlie

For my ‘wedding weekly’ post of the week, I wanted to highlight the impeccably amazing wedding of Lilly and Charlie. This wedding is a special one for me because (a.) Emily Kelly, (who is one of my best friends and partner in U+U) planned and designed it, and (b.) the bride Lilly, who also had a hand in the creativity, is a Venice local neighbor and the designer of a candle line we carry. Every detail of this wedding is perfection. I of course am going crazy over the invitations and paper details.  The vintage-inspired ferry ticket (most people ferry out to Martha’s Vinyard) invited guests to welcome drinks. So genius. Other sheer brilliance is the postcard/escort rack and the pie and cocktail rosettes. Love. Love. Love.

post No.575 U+U

Okay well, the BIG NEWS is finally out! Yesterday we officially launched our new wedding stationery line called U+U!  The line is a collaboration between myself (URBANIC) and my dear friend Emily (UNSCENE) who is a brilliant event planner and designer.  We created this line especially for the brides who want to add character and lots of special little details to their wedding day.  When scrolling through wedding blogs you see all kinds of printed novelties throughout wedding decor, but where does a bride who’s not a designer actually go to purchase them?  We’re happy to announce that this search is now over! We divided the collection up into different themes that can be customized.  Our miscellany custom shop includes things like  seating tags • cookie kitsmenus •  rosettes  • smores kitstable numberswelcome gift tags • beer labelsseed packetswine labels  oh, and of course invitations and save the dates!  Make and appointment at Urbanic to view the collection or if you live out of town, you can order online.

post No.555 handmade weddings

I think I mentioned briefly in a previous blog post that we’d soon be carrying the new Handmade Weddings book from Chronicle at Urbanic. We’ll I’m happy to let you know that the book is now on our shelves and even more adorable than I had anticipated!  It was was put together by the talented sister duo behind Hello Lucky and is packed full of over 50 fun and clever d-i-y projects you can make at home.  Despite the title, the book is definitely not only for brides, it’s really for anyone who wants to add some creative details to garnish a party or event event with a personal touch. A few of my fave projects in the book are, the paper wreaths,  graphic paper link chains, tissue paper bouquet, and collaged votives. Each project’s tutorial is fully equipped with step-by-step instructions, how-to diagrams, and eye candy photos.

Now I’m off to make some pretty paper chains for our next store window! Happy weekend all.

So, I have an exciting announcement today.  Drum roll please  ….  We now carry the Bella Figura line of letterpressed wedding invitations at Urbanic! You need to come and check it out. I’m in love over here.  There are loads of styles to customize and a complete creative library of patterns, colors, fonts, liners, and embellishments to work with – perfect for all of you design enthusiasts!  This collection was just released to boutiques which was huge for me, since I’ve been coveting it for years, not the mention that the prices are so sweet for all of you brides on a budget.

post No.498 All Aboard!

As many of you may already know I’m a huge fan of Chewing the Cud. Viola’s work never disappoints, so this morning’s wedding-weekly highlight is this adventurous little invitation set from her letterpress album.  Admittedly the song by John Denver “leaving on a jet plane” is stuck in my head right now, which may have influenced my decision but either way its adorable!  I’ll leave it at that for today since I am typing this with one hand. (baby in the other).  xo *A

post No.451 Forest Fairytale

I put together this guest post for Brooklyn Bride yesterday on some Forest Fairytale wedding inspiration. One of our Urbanic brides recently shared some photos with me of her wedding day and I was charmed by her use of woodland silhouettes for the table numbers and escort cards. This really got me going on this theme…

carved wood reception pieces by Bragging Bags • tree invitations by Wiley Valentine and Pear & Marmalade • deer invitation set by Paper + Cup •  swallow invitation by I do it Yourself, • boutonniere found here, • menu cards by dozi • squirrel table card from Sabena’s wedding • lollypops by Merci New York • forest invitation by April Ink

post No.445 Ella & Ben

I’m loving the blind letterpressed coral + modern typography layout on these rehearsal dinner invitations we just did for Ella and Ben. I can tell by the coolness of the bride that this is going to be an amazing wedding. I’m sure they will be pulling out all this stops on this one since its being planned by the uber-talented Lyndsey Hamilton!  I will definitely be checking back on the LH blog to see the masterpiece unfold!

post No.444 HITCHED! – it’s almost here.

Many of you might already know that Urbanic is throwing a curated wedding event called HITCHED on September 23rd.

We’re hosting it together with the girls at BashPlease – so you know its gonna be an amazing party!  Over the weekend, Paige put together these project boards which got me totally excited all over again.

If you didn’t read my first post about it, you can right here.  Our stable of participant reveals is almost full now and I must say we have quite the star studded crowd.  Drop me a line with any questions and if you haven’t already snagged your tickets, you should get them soon, because they’re going fast!     *A

p.s – I’ll be posting more soon with our full lineup and schedule of events.

Post No.437 Plurabelle

I think I may have briefly mentioned a while ago that we have a new calligrapher on board here at Urbanic.  I was waiting to gather up some photos to officially introduce you to her.  So that being said… Here she is!!!  Her name is Molly Thorpe, her calligraphy line is called Plurabelle and as you can see her work is completely original!  It makes me happy to  offer such a creative and unique service to our brides and calligraphy lovers.  OH! and by the way, I forgot to mention, we also now have a new vintage postage stamping service available as well. (more to come on this very soon)
