I am in NYC right now for the National Stationery Show. Joshua and I found many treasures yesterday that I can’t wait to share with you.  Before we left I did a quick photo shoot of some of the invitations we received in the mail. (May is definitely the best mail month of the year!)

Best Mail Week of 2013 | NSS

Envelope Heaven | NSS | Urbanic

Every year, about the second week in May we get an influx of the best mail ever delivered to Urbanic. It’s an explosion of creativity from some of the best stationery designers across the country inviting us to visit them at the National Stationery Show. The trade show takes place once a year in NYC and is a showcase of the latest in all things paper and stationery related. I’ve made it a little tradition to post pictures of the mail we get every year. I’ll be posting pics the rest of this week, up until our departure for the show.  For today, here are some blue-toned beauties.

post No.14 NSS pt.1

* part 1 of the 2008 stationery show post *

The stationery show was amazing this year … I just got back and am in total design stimulation overload. Here are a few of my favorites that you will be finding in urbanic very soon..

enormous champion

We discovered this awesome letterpress line out of Brooklyn and I can’t stop thinking about how refreshing and unusual it is… modernish-vintage, nature inspired and downtown hip. I love the name. (It is tied with orange beautiful for best name ever)

Alee and Press

I was so happy to meet the girls at Alee and Press finally! I was smitten by the card they sent me and their designs were all that I had anticipated. The wedding collection was unbelievable and will be arriving soon at urbanic as well as lots of subtle & stylish stationery sets.

Wiley Valentine

I heart wiley valentine forever!! I wish I had some close ups of their new letterpressed line, but I will (very soon) and will be sure to post them. Emily and Rachelle seriously amaze me on a daily basis. They are like a super deluxe design factory constantly busting out the most forward and sophisticated stationery and invitations.

Pikku

Such a tasteful line ! The stationery is letterpressed and hand stiched onto thick cottoney paper. I am so into these “happy days” calendars with designs screen printed onto birch plywood.

Pink Loves Brown

It was so fun for me to meet Nicole from Pink loves brown. She has a great blog called making it lovely and this super cute line of cards, buttons magnets and other patterned delightful treasures. Her packaging was adorable and I love that you can reference her blog to see everything in the works!

post No.711 best mail week of 2012

Hello from 30,000 feet in the air!  I’m in flight and headed to the National Stationery Show in NYC. If you’ve read any of my blog posts from years past here + here you’ll know that May is by far the best mail month of the year!

Our mailman has been unloading piles of these beauties onto our counter for the last few weeks. They are invitations sent to us from different designers exhibiting at the show to come and view their new collections.  The envelopes alone are completely awesome. We’re talking address calligraphy, vintage postage stamps, patterned liners … I mean, come on! Does mail get better than this?!

I’ll be posting show features on instagram and twitter for the next 4 days, so stay tuned!

post No.710 Two Days Until …

I’m packing my bags today and heading to NYC in the morning for the NSS (national stationery show).  While there, I’ll be plotting out purchases for Urbanic for the next 6 months and meeting up with many of the amazing designers who’s work we represent in the shop. We’ve been bombarded with a ton of good mail over the last few weeks full of amazing booth invitations.  (be on the look out for post No.711 where I’ll document all of this for you)  The one below is from one of my favorite lines, The Regional Assembly of Text. It has a revolving count-down wheel of days till the show.  2 more days!

post No.577 best mail week of 2011

It’s been a crazy week trying to tie up loose ends before leaving for the NSS.  After finally heading out we experienced all kinds of travel problems which held up flights and turned our 8 hour trip into a 28 hour trek.  Needless to say we’re here now, safe and sound and excited to stock up on great new things for the shop.  The mail over the last few weeks has been insanely exciting. The invitations we received for this event are inclusive of all bells and whistles so as you can imagine I’ve been dying to show you.  Here’s a peek into some of what I opened …

There’s still lots more fun to be had.  I’ll be tweeting from the mountain tops on great finds from the show, so if you don’t already follow on twitter get signed up!
